Some additional networking tests that might be revealing: FTP from zLINUX2 to zLINUX1 FTP from x86Linux to zLINUX1 and FTP from x86Linux to zLINUX2. These tests might reveal if there is something different between the two Linux guests and help to focus on which might be having the problem. The t

The directory statements haven't changed since the initial install. The LVM which included 205 & 206 was configured during that install and was fine up until recently. In fact I have another copy of this system with the same configuration but not with these errors. Thanks, Mark Vandale Office

I use Regina to link/mount my rpm/iso disks and unmount/detach them when I'm done. It seems to work fine, but it is rather very low utilization (a flurry of activity for a couple days every 3-6 months or so), but I don't know if it would break under heavier utilization. Tom Duerbusch THD Consultin

Is it possible to move an LVM from guest to guest?

2006-05-10 Thread Ranga Nathan
I want to set up an LVM that I can move from guest to guest. I have a 3390-09 volume that I want to use for this. Why? It makes it easy to re-do file systems, at least for now. I have LVM running on a couple of guests but I dont know if it is possible to move this 'utility' LVM from guest to guest

Ok if your portable LVM volume group name is unique and not already in use by a guest; and your portable LVM needs to be supported by your guest's LVM code level (LVM2 wouldn't be portable to a guest that supports only LVM1). This e-mail,

Unmount the filesystem, and run "vgexport" for the volume group. Then take the volume offline via sysfs, and detach it from the guest (This assumes you're on the 2.6 kernel. With 2.4 it's a little more complicated). Repeat the process in reverse on the other system, doing a vgimport on the ot

Using Virtualization Cookbook - Install Question

For the most part, it is really a cookbook. I have had great success using it to install SLES9 on our z/VM system. I initially ran into difficulties when the cookbook suggested that I use an NFS server to install from. This was not possible, more so it was not the easiest to do - lots of people to

So you did or didn't extract the SLES CDs somewhere on your Windows machine? If you did, you can copy the install tree from your Windows PC using any means necessary (FTP, SMB, or if you have an SSH server installed on your PC you can copy the tree using scp has described in section 8.1.1). If y
