is contingent on having a certain certification available,
it would be made available with great rapidity. :)
Same for z/OS ports, 64-bit ports, etc.
Sorry it takes so long.

Thanks, Phil, for posting
I installed SuSE SLES8 2 weeks ago on our FLEX-ES system,
using SAMBA running on the Red Hat base OS, which mostly
serves up our IBM manuals. I used the X install method, after
first issuing the following command on my SuSE 8.2 workstation:
xhost ip.of.the.new.SLES8
After it is installed, and
that
has the problem; it is the underlying OS that the JVM
utilizes to do its work, which often needs fine tuning to
properly run the JVM and thus the JDK/SDK. It may be
perfectly OK for less demanding applications, but still
hiccup when it comes to the JVM.

results may be unsatisfactory,
particularly if you run Java application servers, which
tend to be as picky as the IBM SDK certification tests.
Better to be safe than sorry.

Try this download site:
https://www6.software.ibm.com/dl/lxdk/lxdk-p
It works on our 2.4system:
jimrich@dalvs1:~ /opt/jdk1.4.0/bin/java -version
java version 1.4.0
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.0)
Classic VM (build 1.4.0, J2RE 1.4.0 IBM build cx390140-20020830
It is all in the official SuSE announcement, with link posted last night by Jim

Oracle uses the wrong linker command:
http://www.suse.de/en/support/oracle/db/9i_73.html
For SuSE SLES7 Linux/390 substitute this:
SYSLIBS=`cat
${ORACLE_HOME}/lib/sysliblist` -ldl -lm -lc -lgcc -L/usr/lib/gcc-lib/s390-suse-linu
x/2.95.3/

From: Holly,
I think that may not be enough. The 2.4.7 system may be
a little larger than the 2.2.16 systems, just enough to make
a difference.
Indeed, I once tried a java -version on a 128MB z/OS image
and crashed it.
