I issue the IPL I am getting a disabled wait.
HCPGIR450W CP entered; disabled wait PSW 000A

IN3 OUT
say Done.
REWIND 181

Is the virtual machine you are IPLing SUSE in MACHINE XA or did you use a CMS
template and maybe have MACHINE XC in the directory entry for that user?

When I tried the Virual RDR I used fix 80 and when
I did the FTP for a tape IPL I used 1024. I have

ESA == XA in this context (I'm not sure there is any difference at all in
fact). XC would have spewed as soon as you tried any DAT stuff (or a SIGP to
put it into zArchitecture mode too I guess).

This is part of the SuSE instructions and I
followed them to the letter.
These instructions look ok. I think providing the console
output during a failed IPL with the TRACE instruction suggested
by Rob van der Heij might shed some
Tried the virtual RDR first and it also failed. I
double checked to make sure I was using the
correct files from the CD and everything looks good.
