my linuxconf takes 1.5 minutes or so to load in text mode, could it have
anything to do with resolving issues??
is there anyway to get around it?

I think i found your problem...
When i use 640, it disconnects me after a while and when it doesnt i get
a poor connection
Use 725 instead. You'll probably see an improvment

Don't know about linuxconf but as far as I know no $DISPLAY means that you are
not trying it unde
Hmm, in my modem i had to send some AT command in order to activate this. i
really don't remeber what it was, but i guess USR will give this
information. did you try to use that command? if not, please look it in the
manual.
in my modem, it had 3 statuses: one without CID, second with CID on ASCII
BezeqInt has probably the best network traffic statistics in Israel when it
comes to ISDN.
Don't u all forget that ISDN lines, like modem lines are not your lines
only, A lot of ppl use the same line or should I say the same bandwidth as u
do...that is why the speeds change from time to time.
