As mentioned, RH 7.1 introduced xinetd, replacing inetd. Do a `man xinetd`
for more info. Everything is off by default, so you'll have to re-enable
things, as noted.
I'm not sure what is wrong with Netscape.
One thing I've noticed about large RedHat upgrades; avoid them. RPM wasn't

Hi Rick,
Don't know if you got any replies, and I just chanced upon this..

Hi,
Is it possible to timeout a connection using mgetty with AutoPPP, on a
global basis.
I'm looking to implement two time outs.
(1). Disconnect if no activity after xx minutes
(2). Disconnect connection after yy hours (Regardless of activity).
If it can't be done with mgetty, is there anothe

"Final" version was released May 15. Seems to work pretty good, at least

Problem with inbound TCP ports resolved (still working on Netscape, but
that's less urgent).

directory called /etc/xinetd.d, which in turn contains a config file for
each of the services. By default, ALL SERVICES ARE DIS

Hi all
Does anyone out there use a Genuis ColorPage-CS scanner with sane? This
scanner is made by Leo Systems, their part number is "FS-1130A".
I need to know if it will run with Linux and if so which back-end to use for
it.
Thanks!

Hi all
OK I've got my SCSI tape drive working, THANKS! Now I've added a small SCSI
HD (202 mb) just to learn how it's done.
My problem now is when I try to auto mount the HD when I boot I get an error.
It seems that Linux trys to mount the SCSI HD before the controler is up. In

I've just upgraded from RedHat 7.0 to RedHat 7.1. Two things have stopped
working (that I've noticed so far) in the way that they used to work.
1) Many inbound TCP ports seem to be disabled now. Telnet and ftp in
particular. How do I turn these back on? (I filter external Internet
