I guess I am fortunate that I use transparent caching and had no issues,
though seems to be some issues with the repos since with packages
failing to download and requiring a second or sometimes third attempt to
get them.
Still, overall I was happy with the upgrade results.

Hi,
Took the plunge this morning and did an upgrade from 7.04 to 7.10 using
the 'update-manager'. It delivered one error during the upgrade but it
doesn't appear to have caused any issue. Box rebooted fine after upgrade
and everything appears to work.

also reduced the number of CDs able to be ordered from the number
available at the previous release.
Like most people, I download the .iso but it is always handy to have a

The comments that seemed accurate in the original article were those
from Symantec. That the botnet zombies are almost (if not) all Windows
machines whereas Linux machines tend to be favored as C&C hosts for the
botnets.
That sounds reasonably accurate to me.

Hi,
One LAN and one WAN only I think. The WAN interface has some special

matter of simplicity and is in part only a name. Setting up other

Yep, I agree. After upgrading my edgy box to feisty, I was curious at
how a clean install would go, and did one on a drive with two existing
partitions, one windows, and the other, a previous install of dapper.
Feisty asked me would I like to resize the linux partition and install

Indeed. While not strictly related to Ubuntu.
Does the general public really have any idea of the impact Linux has had
on the IT industry in general? How many startups are using Linux as the
base operating system for their appliances for example? In my

In regard to Dell making Ubuntu an option, end users really have little
(if anything) to do as most common packages will be installed, Ubuntu
