I'm really confused.
Gphoto says some cameras just come up looking like a file system when
you plug them into a USB port. Mine does this on machines running
Windoze. So presumably I don't need gphoto. Or do I?
All I can make of the docs on the USB hotplug stuff is that there's
stuff in there.

How do you upgrade from gcc 2.9x to 3.2? Can't that be a perilous path?

Well, I did that and it kind of worked - but I don't think the problem is
with installkernel.
I did the rpm -ivh --force kernel..rpm and it installed.
I then added that to my lilo.conf as label SMP:

default=Linux
boot=/dev/sda

install=/boot/boot.b

There were no other files XF86Config or the -4 variant - they are all in
/etc/X11 except for a symlink to XF86Config in /usr/X11R6 so I killed that
symlink. Still wouldn't center.
Caldera's file did not work so I recreated a brand new XF86Config-4 from
xf86config. I then se

yes. it will be a big task for the chief editor to adjust all sxs
articles to use indirect addressing for email id. :)
One possibility would be for the authors to have aliases at the SxS site so
that changes would only have to be made in one place.

I prefer the option that results in the least amount of work for

Yea, Tom has great advice. You should be able to reuse XF86Config*
files across distros, assuming that they're all using the same version
of XFree86.

Search your system for more than one copy of XF86Config*.
man XF86Config tells the story of the search path xfree uses to find it.
Maybe you have more than one copy on your system & are editing the wrong
one. I copy my Caldera one into my Gentoo system, works great.
