Digital Camera on USB?

I'm really confused. Gphoto says some cameras just come up looking like a file system when you plug them into a USB port. Mine does this on machines running Windoze. So presumably I don't need gphoto. Or do I? All I can make of the docs on the USB hotplug stuff is that there's stuff in there.

Well, I did that and it kind of worked - but I don't think the problem is with installkernel. I did the rpm -ivh --force kernel..rpm and it installed. I then added that to my lilo.conf as label SMP: prompt timeout=50 default=Linux boot=/dev/sda map=/boot/map install=/boot/boot.b message=/boot/m

I got it fixed. There were no other files XF86Config or the -4 variant - they are all in /etc/X11 except for a symlink to XF86Config in /usr/X11R6 so I killed that symlink. Still wouldn't center. Caldera's file did not work so I recreated a brand new XF86Config-4 from xf86config. I then se
