Jared,
Sounds like a worthy project.
Have you thought about how to handle the differences
between Linux distros ? Redhat, SuSE and Debian all
have different ways of starting/stopping services.

Ole,
The bzImage that is included with the 2.09pre4 kernels is assuming that
you will first be loading an initrd as your root filesystem. Then,
the /linuxrc script will take care of mounting the NFS filesystem and
then do a pivot_root to make the NFS filesystem root.
Take a look at the buildk s
Wouter,
Yes, we use Docbook for the LTSP documentation. Actually, starting
with 3.0.0 documentation.

Phil,
That's one of the problems with using the kernel-space dhcp client.
The newer versions of LTSP, 2.09pre4, using user-space dhcp client,
and you can specify the IP address of the NFS server in the root-path
entry of dhcpd.conf.
Just set the value of the root-path to:

For additional LTSP help,

Anytime i've seen what looks like vertical bars, instead of fonts, it
has been caused by using the wrong X server for the video card.
in my case, it was an S3 video card and I tried using the SVGA
Xserver.
Try using a different Xserver, and I believe your problem will
go away. If it does

I would recommend a motherboard with the serverworks chipset.
Either supermicro or tyan offers these.

Is it bootable from the net? Either by boot-rom or bios config? If
so, the flash is not needed.
Sorry I am such a stickler for having no os on the client until after it
boots. But LTSP does not need an OS on the client. Just more overhead
and cost.

First of all, thanks for your suggestions. =)

Is anyone using Win4Lin (http://www.netraverse.com/products/win4lin30)

Running Windows inside a window on the desktop - win & - works
brilliantly, and is perfect for people migrating users from Winxx to
Linux.
However, I've not managed to find a way to run it in full screen mode -

How do I go about making a new kernel (bzImage) from the ltsp config?
I am not sure how to handle the modules and initrd. The reason I need
a bzImage and not a vmlinuz is because grub doesn't like the size of
the vmlinuz from the lts_kernel.
I have managed to load GRUB to the PXE-client. I have
