You might have some problems if you have all the clients boot up with the
same login ID under KDE. The KDE's messaging service is pretty dependent on
the user only being logged into one client. If you use one default login
across multiple clients you might have some windows pop-up on the wrong

Hi, I am interested in using LTSP and I was wondering if the IBM
8361-110 PowerPC Thin Client Workstation would work with the LTSP. I
have found a source for them that is pretty cheap but I was waiting to
see if it would work before purchasing any.
Thanks,
Joel

Tom,
1) Support - Should not be a problem. Just need to be sure to schedule between booth
and Press Room
2) Cost - Also should not be a problem since we can provide labor and should be able
to supply any needed hardware (i.e. cabling, switch, etc.)
3) Reliability - Definitely not a problem!
Having problems after a seemingly LTSP install.
The workstation loads but I never get to an X server screen. The kernel loads and eventually when it tries to load the X server the screen flashed and eventually freezes mentioning a problem with X server.
Seems like I have to set this up for the prop

I'm anxious to hear what Brooke has to say. This could be

help the Linux image overall.

If I add a line in lts.conf for a usb camera etc how would I go about

Is there a simple setting in the conf file or do I need an exports file,

Hi,
Is there any cheap X-Windows Terminal with the following specs, where i
can implemet LTSP:
1) Connectivity: PCMCIA ( dial-up, 802.11b etc ).
2) Screen size: 6 to 12".

Bimal,
What you are looking for is a chroot() jail for your users. Setting one up is beyond
the scope of the LTSP list but a quick Google search will get you tons of info.
FYI - The difference between run level 3 and 5 is which machine the process is
running on.
In run level 3 you are in
Janette,
It sounds like a video problem, not a NIC problem. From the list of packages that
you downloaded I don't see a X server. Try starting your client in RUNLEVEL = 3 then
manually running startws. See what X errors pop up on the screen.
BTW - the client will not boot from a kernel that

One last thing to check here, just to be sure and to eliminate possible source, try
replacing teh host name with host ip in the root-path setting. IF this works then the
problem is in the DNS setup. Or LTSP can't do DNS lookup till after boot is finished.
