Greetings,
We recently purchased a new Dell PowerEdge low-end server to use with our
LTS Project. Thinking that I would set up everything with the "latest and
greatest" distro's, I installed Red Hat 8.0 and the following ltsp packages:
ltsp_core-3.0.7-0.i386.rpm
ltsp_kernel-3.0.5-0.i386.rpm

I guess you could change the DisplaysPerHost=1 to DisplaysPerHost=2 in
gdm.conf

David,
it is most probably a hardware problem. Had a few with similar

If it's just one terminal and all the others work, I would suggest it
is a hardware problem with that terminal. Maybe a bad powersource or
batty CPU fan.

Hi, I have been following this doc
http://www.ltsp.org/contrib/vmware_dummy0.txt
with a little difference, I am running it as bridged
network instead of dummy0, its quite easy and now I am
booting the kernel.
Right now I have an Xfree problem, the IRC log in the
mentioned doc, reffers to the 'X

Hi -
I'm using LTSP 3 on Debian 3.0 and I have an Epia mini-itx machine as my client
workstation. More often than not, after logging in to the terminal, and as the
'Starting KDE' splash screen appears on the client, the mini-itx terminal
reboots(!)
This doesn't always happen...Sometimes you can
This message to inform of the few progress i made with the installation of
ltsp_core on a suse-8.1
A few explanation of the steps:
- i got the new suse.sh script from Chistoph Tiel
- Jim told me about the create_rpm script in the tarball
I needed to change the suse.sh script to fit the version n
IMHO I think this is a great idea... From a marketing standpoint I should
think this could be very a appropriate (and powerful) addition to the LTSP
site. "LTSP in action" or something. I'm willing to help put together
things if you go for it!

OK Mike!
I will attempt to configure MPI on LTSP, and if I have success, I will

Hi,
i'm back with my installion of ltsp on a Suse 8.1. Now, i'm knowing the
needed change to make the installation script compliant with my system, i
need to rebuild the ltsp_core3 rpm.
Does anyone know where i can get the rpm.src of the last version of the
ltsp_core package ?
thanks

I want to run a remote command from the server and see the results on
the workstation terminal. To do so I use remote command

It appears that /dev/tty1 -> vc/1
and vc/1 is crw-- root root so access is denied!

Hello List,
the IRC server has not been reachable for at least two days now,
hostname does not resolve. What happened there? If it is going to
disappear, please someone remove that message about it that the

Best regards,

Just for information
I don't need X for one of my workstation
So I put in the host section in lts.conf
XSERVER = N
and I rectify rc.local to avoid unecessary action and save boot time
if [ "${XSERVER}" != "N" ]; then

Maybe it will be useful for someone ...

I too would find that both useful and of interest. We have a school here
that should have the best part of 300 clients by the end of the summer, but
the project's first phase will only have one client and four servers...
Should be 100 clients by April.
IMNSHO, it should be a section on the LTSP.or
