I have a couple of customers, that are perfectly happy with their LTSP
installations. Although some people claim that the days of LTSP are over
in favour of some cloud solutions (VDI), I still believe very strongly
in LTSP's approach. I recently installed a server (2x xeon e5-2407 16Gb
i have kiwi-ltsp installed (opensuse 13.1) on a quite powerful server
(2x xeon e5-2407 16Gb memory, / on 100Gb SSD). thinclients boot
reasonable fast, etc..
but some programs are terrible slow on the thinclients: e.g kate is so
slow, you cannot work with it. When typing in characters. they
i found the solution, it has to do with Qt. I created /etc/profile.local
with export QT_GRAPHICSSYSTEM=native in it, and now my thinclients are
blazing fast...
I wonder if nobody else had this problem before

ps it is an opensuse 10.1 distr
and other user processes are still active. An init 3/5 didn't
do anything at all. I also noticed a sesreg defunct process. Maybe this
is a OS issue, but probably somebody else encoutered this as well.

i have still some problems with my new installation ( new xfree ), being
unable to identify the belgian keyboard. i think it has something to do the
way i build the xfree. i changed the project path to /opt/ltsp/i386/usr/X11R6
in site.def, but this doesn't seem to be enough, because once the
