I would expect Freeciv (which is probably already installed in the K12LTSP
install as I think it's included in the default install of Redhat) to work
just fine in an LTSP environment.
I don't know if other distributions include it by default. I'd expect
that Mandrake would. In Debian, it's prob
Hmm, found this on the www.xfree86.org website:
http://www.xfree86.org/4.2.0/Status9.html
Looks like the 5426 chipset is supported in Xfree86 3.3.6 by the 'cirrus'
driver.
It also looks like the 5426 chipset isn't supported in Xfree86 4.2.0.
Do you know which version you're using?

I believe this has been covered before, so a quick search of the archive
may prove useful.
Regardless, a company called Codeweavers (www.codeweavers.com) makes a
product called CrossOver Office:

It certainly is possible to use a single DHCP server to serve multiple
networks or network subnets, but keep in mind that it would need to serve
a different IP address space to each subnet and/or network.
The DHCP server needs to be able to tell which subnet the request is
coming from, so it kno
The problem is the differing networks. Let's abstact this a bit...
Say you've got two physical networks, network1 that uses 192.168.1.x, and
network2 that uses 10.0.0.x. You've got a DHCP server on both, which
serve their respective IP address spaces.
It looks like you want the DHCP server on
>From my experience avoid software raid. I've never had good luck with it.
However, I know a couple of people that swear by it, so YMMV.
I've been extremely happy with the 3ware brand of EIDE raid cards. If you
were using one of their cards them I would answer each of your questions:

Um, correct me if I'm wrong (and I very well may be), but isn't the
bandwidth with bluetooth significantly smaller than what would be
practical to run a graphical terminal over?
I seem to recall bluetooth being marketed as a means of creating a
'personal network' so that your cell phone can comm
On Redhat 7.1 (which by default uses the ext2 non-journaled filesystem)
it will indeed automatically run fsck upon the first boot after a power
loss. However, if there are serious filesystem errors, the system won't
boot and will instead sit there waiting for root to come along and
manually fsck
Please note that I haven't tried this, but it's something I've been
thinking about for a little while now.
If you've got multiple servers that you want to turn into a cluster to act
as one large LTSP server, and are more worried about scaling the
processing and storage capabilities for load bala
If I understand correctly, the Win2k Pro OS has a RDP client license
'built-in' and you don't need to seperately purchase client licenses on
the server end. However, using any other version of windows (except
possibly XP?), or any other platform (linux, mac, etc.) you do need to

There are a couple of motherboards that will support dual Pentium II based
Celeron's (like the Abit BP6). I haven't seen one yet that will support
dual Pentium III based Celerons.
The BP6 however does work just fine with two of the older Celeron
processors under linux (well, the stock kernel th

It's a start at using a cluster of linux systems to drive a video
wall. It is kind of limited at this point (will display static images,
mpeg movies, and they've made a start at using it as an X display), but it
definately looks promising.

Yes, the Citrix client connects to the Citrix server. However, I think
the question is, in the LTSP environment, should the Citrix CLIENT be
running as a local app on the LTSP terminal, or should the Cirtix client
be running on the LTSP server and just displaying on the LTSP terminal.
I've foun
An even more expensive solution would be to run a Citrix Metaframe server
(which has a linux client). With the massive and ever growing number of
licenses required for Metaframe it would probably be cheaper to by new
Windows workstations though.
