Regarding this issue, I found that this "virtual screen" feature is
optional in xorg
(http://article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.freedesktop.xorg/13430/match=virtual+screen).
Does it mean that it is ltsp that is turning it on? Is it possible
to turn it off ourselves? Currently we have to enable only

Thanks for your reply. That's exactly what I did. The resolution is
indeed set to 800x600, but the root window is larger than that.
Below is my its.conf file. cladm002 is the client concerned

I am setting ltsp 4.2. On a client, xorg starts fine and
defaults to the resolution of 1024x768. However, I'd like
to set it to 800x600. It can still display fine, but the
root window seems remain at 1024x768. That is, using the
mouse (pointer), I can "pan" to explore various parts of
the root
