Indeed. Somehow a modern fallacy is in danger of becoming established:
ie that French theorbos were single strung (and with some other
particular features too). The historical evidence does not support this
modern identification/fad. No doubt some French played single strung

The Gamut Music Kickstarter project for French Baroque lute duets seems to
have been quite successful. Is there an interest (other than my own) in
this format for Renaissance/Elizabethan lute duets, or even trios, minus
one???

Yes Leonard, a thousand times yes: I for my part am definitely
interested as a mostly lonely lute player... And there might well be
some more out there in space. The partner, not to speak the patient

Because I always set up the channels in the duets one to the left and the other
one to the right channel, one needs only to turn the control to the left or
right channel,- and so you can very well
