I am unable to checkout the subversion repository by anonymous access. I
type the following:
svn co svn://svn.lyx.org/lyx/lyx-devel/trunk lyx-devel
and that does just nothing.
Am I doing it wrong or is there something broken?

When I try to open an existing LyX 1.3.5 document, I only get the first
window, and the command line output about getopt.
I have read the getopt problem is related to my Python install, but I
have a standard Fedora Core 4 distrib, with Python 2.4.1 installed.

It should test if aclocal and autoheader are present using the
variable, the same way we do with autoconf and automake.
