However, the work you did for Windows is done by the "packagers" from the
various distributions under Linux. Hence your mileage regarding LyX may vary
from distro to distro and you should report to the distro the startup
problems you had with LyX (or switch the distro).

Since more than a decade I help to develop LyX on Windows. After being
forced to buy a new Laptop with a preinstalled Win 10 I was so annoyed
by Win 10 that I gave Linux a try.
