I've tried \twocolumn{text}{\includegraphics{}}
and also tried floats, but the graphics doesn't show properly.

GUI problems:
- LyX -> About does nothing
- LyX -> Preferences displays the About LyX dialog
- LyX -> Quit LyX displays the Preferences dialog
