As the preamble is "free LaTeX source" (like ERT), lyx is not aware of
the \bibliography call there.

I believe that's true. Actually, after the first Python error I had with
1.4.4, the first thing I did was to install a full version of Python. I also
believe you should reconsider this decision.

Does the path to your:bib and/or your .bst file have spaces?

This pops up four or five times, only then can i add my bibtex. The same thing
happens when i
click on the bibtex item within the document.
Thanks! I checked the output and found the error, which seems to be that
apacite doesn't like babel. Now it's working.

I'm having trouble getting bibtex to work properly with LyX using cygwin and
MikTeX. I installed MikTeX in c:\texmf. I'm using apacite. Latex and bibtex
are in the path and show up when I do "which latex" and "which bibtex" within
cygwin. But I get "(?)" in all of my citations, although they do

I can't seem to get LyX to generate a bibliography from
a top-level compound document. The top-level document
includes a series of other lyx files, all having the
document style book, plus a bibliography construct at the end.

Are you looking only at xdvi and gv? Or at the actual latex file?

Hi!
I reported some time ago a problem I had with LyX 1.02 (now 1.03p2) not
displaying the entry list of the BibTeX file in the Key field of the
Citation dialog box. Well this would of course be a nice feature to
have, but I thought I could live without, and didn't care so much about
it.
