I started to try to tease apart whether the basic.!55 file is maybe a copy
of the option rom, even though it's too large to fit on a chip.
I was thinking, maybe someone copied the option rom to disk via the system
manager, and the disk/ram copy just gets some kind of headers or tails
added to it w

Hot damn it works!
Thanks to Steve digging up that basic.!55 file, and the xmodem in the
built-in telcom app, it's possible for someone with a bare Model 600 with
no utility disk or basic option rom, to download and install all the
utility disk files, format a new blank disk, copy the files to it,
It doesn't do anything if you don't have a BASIC interpreter on the machine
to run it. The Model 600 did not ship with BASIC in rom.
But I just managed to get past that hurdle. See next post...

But you can't run any basic program on a Model 600, because it doesn't come
with basic. That's why it's such a big deal to discover that it's in the
built-in telcom. With that, it's then possible to download basic as an
executable, and THEN you can run basic programs.
There was a basic option rom,
I have it on the 102. It's called xmodem.bas which creates a new telecom with
xmodem. It works great for transfers from other devices. Can't remember where
I got it from, but I'm sure it came from bitchin100 library.
