Hello. I am running Windows in a boot camp partition without Snow Leopard and I have sound. I had to install drivers from the mac os installation cd after installing Windows. I printed the Bootcamp Installation Guide wich contains the procedures. I needed sighted assistance to get this done.

Hello Joanne, I use the combination of VueScan and ABBYY FineReader for scanning and OCR on the Mac. I get excellent results from this arrangement. VueScan costs around $79 US and ABBYY FineReader around $90 US. The setup process is a bit fiddly, but once it's done, everything works smoothly.

Hello Brian, I scan both single sheets and whole books. I use a Cannon Lide 700F portable USB scanner with my 2007 white MacBook. In VueScan, you can set it to single or multi-page scanning. You can also set it to auto-repeat so that you don't have to keep pressing Cmd-N on the computer.
