power supply, or an issue with the SMC. On those units, you can reset the SMC

FWIW, I've used Mail with Gmail's POP server, and it's way faster. So I can
confirm that IMAP is way slower. I think it has to do with server syncing. I
think IMAP is still better if you have iOS devices that are using GMail as well.

HI. yes you are correct there seems to be no way of stopping the speech. it's
not such a problem for me as i'm using a usb headset. perhaps if you turned off
the speech and interacted with the text area to read what it's saying that
would work but I dare say that's a long way of going about it

I don't know of any way to have the clipboard contents read by VoiceOver, but
you can check what text is selected by pressing VO-F6.

I assume turning on the speech refers to the check box to speak text
and commands. I checked the box, boot up the mud, and then the mud's
info starts to be spoken and I can't stop it with the control key or
anything else. I never even get the chance to read line by line.

Not sure how comparing a tricked out $8K Mac Pro to your $400 hackintosh
is in the same ballpark. To come up with an $8K machine you'd have to go
for something like the 12-Core Intel Xeon box with 64GB RAM or the like.

and I would have the same problem. In TextEdit, and you may have to do this in
your other programs, I turned off three things: correct spelling automatically,
correct grammar, and correct spelling as you type
