Hello all,
I encountered Wi-Fi issues on a late 2013 Retina Macbook Pro while running
Windows 8.1 professional via Boot Camp. I therefore decided to do some
troubleshooting. Really the only troubleshooting suggestion I could find apart
from erasing my Windows partition and starting from scratc
Not cool. I suppose it would be childish of me to pipe up and remind
everyone that Window-eyes doesn't make you register your copies like
some criminal.

I used to back up and restore the authorization folders in order to get around

Yes. I wish I could have warned you. I urge you to get a Dongle from Freedom
Scientific (if you can) in order to tide over these sorts of happenings, which
are indeed regrettably unexpected, and unacceptable.
I would argue for virtualisation, except that the same thing happens in virtual

Time to switch to NVDA. It does some things better than jaws now anyway.

This is why it's much better to use a screen reader like nvda, no activation to
lose, and no installation of video drivers, really nothing but advantages.

Or, you can use nvda or system access to go, really there is no reason to even
pay for expensive screen readers anymore.

Paying?
If you have Office, and you should, it's free.

Mmm, that's great in theory, but Windows isn't built for access through APIs in
the same way that OS X and Linux are yet, so you inevitably need one of the
commercial screen readers, for some purpose. So you end up installing the one
screen reader that does everything, either JAWS or Window-Eye
That's why I don't use windows other than at work where I have no choice. For
home use, it's the mac all the way, far less problems and a built in screen
reader.

Hello Eileen:
You have two Dongles? I assume you have two separate licenses of JAWS, then?
In any case, yes, if a Dongle is authorized

The dongle must be authorised for a particular version of JAWS. You can plug
it in and use the Dongle Viewer tool that comes with JAWS to see what version
your dongles authorise now. If you are in need of an update file for your
dongle, contact FS for the file and give them the serial numbers;

I have to say, I used Windows every day for over a year, then slowly less and
less as I started the transition to the Mac, with only NVDA. I never ran into a
single problem, and in fact had a much smoother experience overall. NVDA has
only gotten better since those days, too. And yes, before tha
