I often find that you can give Windows VMs focus if you just turn VO off
temporarily and hit Tab enough times. Once your keyboard is grabbed, you can
turn VO on again, if you like.

I generally set things up so that my VM's are in full screen mode, and also
make sure to have enabled control-left / control-right to move from between
virtual screens. I don't usually use a mouse, but when I need a family member
to do something they can.
Let me know if you need more specifics.
Hi!
Make sure you’re in the windows screen.
Otherwise i guess the mouse wont work.
Sometimes i have to do a lot of tabbing to get into the right position to get
things going.
Not sure if i understand you right though.

Your explanation is really very good. It’s always been tricky for me, but I

Hema,
It’s a bit tricky, but let me see if I can explain it right: When you’re in
Windows, press Control+Command. Then, you can use Command+Tab to move away from
VMware Fusion to any other app you might have running. All the VO command will
work once you have done the Control+command keystroke.
When fusion is running, it depends on how you have things setup. But I use
command tab to go between both systems

Hi,
One thing you can do is place the machine you are running in full screan
mode and yes my vmware takes over the keyboard when in fockus.

I've done that. I don't have VoiceOver running at the same time as the virtual
machine so I avoid too many keyboard conflicts and the VM runs faster without
VoiceOver in the background anyway. I'm in fulscreen mode. When I plug the
display in, Windows (7) gives me the error connect sound. Are
You have to dedicate the braille display to the virtual machine. It doesn't
share with the voice over on the Mac. it is a little painful but it will work.

Hello Joseph. When I also have Windows 7 running in VMFusion. When in
Windows, I turn Voice Over off then it's out of the way and doesn't
conflict. I'm in Microsoft Outlook now and the arrow keys work just fine. If
I need to control the VM then I turn VoiceOver on to get to the Virtual

Interesting. Sometimes it did and sometimes it didn't for me so I just
do it anyway to be sure it's installed and current.

Hi Chris,
When I installed Windows via Fusion, the VMWare tools were installed
automatically after Windows was installed and booted up.

To clarify, VMWare will boot up windows with the VMWare tools and then
you choose install VMWare Tools from the Virtual Machine menu. After
that it should get everything going. Unless you like narrator you might
want to install Jaws/WindowEyes since the actual install is a windows app.

HI Simon,
I know you can import a Bootcamp installation into fusion. I installed
Windows from a CD and VMWare Tools was installed automatically after
Windows was installed, so I think it would work the same way when
importing the installation from Bootcamp.
Best,
Anna

You have to install the tools yourself; they are not automatically
installed.

Just a side question regarding vmware tools. I've downloaded vmware
fusion from the internet. Are the mvware tools a part of this
downlload by default, and consequently vmware will install them as
needed during the Windows installation? Or do I need to get vmware
tools as a separate downlo
Hi Anouk,
In order to run Windows via Fusion, you need a Windows CD. This can't
be an upgrade CD or a recovery disk. You then install Windows using
that CD within Fusion. Once Windows is installed, Fusion loads the
drivers you need automatically through something called VMWare tools.

Hmmm, that is curious, I have not heard that Anouk and I'm not so sure
that is a good idea in any event. Best to start with a fresh install
of windows. If you install windows as a VM, you can certainly make a
backup of that and just copy it over itself if something becomes hosed.
