It won’t let me disable iCloud Drive. When I try, I get this message:

so adding to it, moving things out of it, and opening things from it are all
the same as they would be on any other folder on your Mac. You can jump to it

Use [command] + [shift] + [i] to access iCloud Drive. After that, you can
paste folders into it just the same as any other finder window.

I'm still exploring this matter myself. As I understand it. The drive will
allow you to organise things to your liking. So you might want to create a
folder for work documents, another for family photos etc.
So the short answer the advantage of iCloud Drive is organisation.

expect, however.
1. It seems that with the Pages, Numbers and Keynote apps for iOS, you are
still expected to store documents in the respective app folders within iCloud

is there any reason to activate iCloud drive? I am using iCloud to backup our
iPhones and iPad and still have 4.4gb free. I will not be increasing any option
above the 5GB free. I already have enough offsite storage for the iMac and all
my wife photos.
I can see no reason to change
like it on the Mac and on the PC but I still think ICloud is weird
on the phone. It's technically not as compartmentalized but it's still
hard to get to different parts of it because you can't really browse
there. I want an ICloud Drive app like the DB or One Drive apps I use
now. So for me
It creates an ICloud drive folder under your user just like Dropbox does.
