I'm still trying to figure this out but I've got it down to mail and my ftp
client.
I turn them on and my fan runs hot, or shall I say my fan runs and won't quit.
I have to shut it down and not run mail or my ftp client or listen to it all
day. what could be causing this?
Thanks.

hello; how long have you had your mac? sometimes the fan will run
more if the venting on your machine is clogged with dust and dirt.
You might want to try cleaning them with some compressed air. I did
it on mine a while back. well, had my brother do it actually. but
since then mine

Hello but I think that this is just simply processor load, what do I mean by
that one trying to get at here is that your computer based on how many
applications you have running has to turn on the fan basically because the
processors having to crunch a lot of numbers.
When it does this in of
hello; then it is still within the first 90 days. I don't think you
should be experiencing those kinds of problems yet. My ftp client,
cute ftp, doesn't cause the fan on my mac book to run like that. I
don't have protect mac any more because my trial expired, but it used
to cause that.
lol! your speaking program gor your own name wrong. No it strts when I run mail
and only mail and or only when i run my ftp client but not when I run skype,
python, clisk, and nambu. I can quit mail but the fan can sit there and run all
day and it has so I dunno what's going on. this only
Oh transmit never used to cause that. the problem I think started when I
mounted an ftp site to disk and tried to coppy a 7 gig folder over. since then
it has not quit and I've rebooted and it will be fine until I start mail and
or transmit and keep running even with them clossed but it will
Ok, something i used to do before we cleaned mine, shut down the unit.
let the ram and processor clear out. then restart it and see if the
mail program causes the fan to run again. One of the good things and
bad things about a mac is you don't have to shut them down as often.
I have gone
I already tried that but i'll try again.

Check your Activity Monitor. I'm having the same consistent running issue
with a process called Quick Look Helper, which runs at over 100% of the
processor's capacity. I close out this process, and it cools the system down
within a minute or two.

Yeah, look at the percentage. Quick Look Helper takes a lot of juice, which
is why I always try to stop it, or hte fan will never shut off.
