Mapinfo had centroid problems before (in 5.0, 5.5) and I used to get around them
by converting polygon to polyline, then back to region. Convoluted, but that's
life.

I use transparent (textured) fills for this kind of thing. There are a
couple that look like a solid color, but are in fact a dense dot fill giving
illusion of transparency. Of course, do not forget to turn "background"
off, or it will not work.

Simplicity itself - as you are drawing your polyline and get to the edge of
the window, move your cursor outside window boundaries... the map will move to
cover your cursor. Do not click to avoid creating unnessessary nodes. Enjoy.

Well, can't help you with column headings, but you can get rid of these pesky grid
lines in browser by selecting your browser window and in toolbar under
"BrowseOptions" unchecking grid lines. You may pick a prettier typface/size by

Yes there is a workaround - covert regions to polylines, then back to regions,
which for some reason puts centroids back in the center. Sucks, doesn't it?

A thing we did for a similar situation was the following:
1) Get a printer driver for your plotter, install it and set to print to file.
2) In MapInfo, set the plotter as your printer, set up your layout and print to a
file.
3)Hope you have a way to carry large files aroung (zip drive, CD

Well yes there is a simple way to do what you want. In a mapper window,
make your table editable, and select your 2 non-object records - put them
in a separate browser. Now pick (select) one of them, go to map, pick a
point-making tool (with a symbol that you like) and mark it where it belongs.

It costs way more than it should (close to a thousand) but is quiet good,
once you have a few quirks figured out (for example, "promote topology"
actually keeps it the same and "maintain topology" changes lines to surfaces,
etc.). Can't compare it to Arcview, since I have no experience on that.

This assumes that your points have their coordinates in columns Long, Lat. If they
don't you will have to create columns and update them with CentroidX(), CentroidY().
You should save a copy of your table with bounds set. Export to Mid/Mif format, open
the .mif file in text editor, and edit the
coordsys line (see mapinfo help on setting bounds for projection systems).
Hope that helps.

Dear Agustin:
"Intersects" works very well with polylines. You may create a buffer
around your points, and write something like:
Select * from MyBuffer, Polylines where obj Intersects Polylines..Obj
into GonnaBeTransformed.
Also, polylines do so have centroids.
