Hi all,
We have a NSG road network that someone has combined
all the individual ESU lines into whole USRN's. This
is causing umpteen problems and was wondering whether
anyone out there had a utility that could split
polylines on the basis on intersection points and keep
the data associated with
Hi David
Five possibilities I can think off. First one is are you packing the
table after doing the thinning? A pack should make it smaller as it
removes deleted records. When you thin record 1 it becomes say record
1211001 but record one stays there until the geometry block is again
changed.
Hi all,
Please ignore my previous email...found a quick
utility i've managed to modify-works like a
charm...still work to do though

I've had a couple of enquiries about this, so thought I'd better sum the
results.
The question was how to get ESRI grid files into MapInfo. MI will not read
ESRI grid files, nor other file formats such as ASCII text that ArcGIS can
export, so another product is required. Vertical Mapper can
I'm still relatively new to all this MapBasic code, but i'm creating some code,
when I compile it, it doesn't make an MBX it makes an MBO, I can't understand
why its referring to this. I can't find the line/s of code which are making the
code create this MBO.
Can anybody help?
Thanks

Hi List,
Can anyone tell me where my templates are saved when I create/save a new
thematic map template in a CITRIX MapInfo session?
The .thm files are obviously not on my local c:\ drive - will they be on
the c:\ drive of the CITRIX machine?

It seems to me that the disturbing thing is the difference of 2.5 for Pt1
between the two lots of output quoted.
Is this a centre of pixel vs top left of pixel difference?
If so, what versions of the software are you using? And, has it been
corrected in the latest (MI 7.8 / 8.0 / +) and VM?

I will be teaching a GIS and Spatial Analysis and Statistics course during fall
semester at Loyola. We have Mapinfo site licenses for 25 computers. However,
the university does not allow student work to be saved on the computer or
server. Therefore, I am requiring students to use a memory

I'm not sure what to make of the difference in image registration. I've
tried opening the second .grd file through the MI dialog and the same thing
happens - the grid is effectively shrunk by 5 meters along each

Dear Listers-
This should be a simple process, but I'm having difficulties with it.
Using SQL select, I'm trying to select a point with the largest
population. It selects the specified columns, but I want the actual
point on the map to be selected as well. Where am I going wrong?

I just found some interesting behavior involving the choice of short cut
and the MapBasic window.
I just had an app that was using Ctrl+M as a short cut. When that app was
loaded (as an item or sub-menu (two different versions) ) in the windows or
in the tools menu (two different versions) , if I
Keith,
The versions are important, in that these differences exist in recent
invocations of both applications (which belong to the same company).
This half-pixel problem (if that's what it is, as I suspect) is quite
common. My GIS of choice - Manifold System GIS - is currently correcting a

John,
The problem is that the Max aggregation also does a grouping of the records,
and then the connection to the geographical part is lost.
You could try this:
Select * from US_CITIES
Where TOTPOP = (Select Max(TOTPOP) From US_CITIES)
The subselect returns the largest population, and
and it was actually not only in the MapBasic window but the problem was there
whenever the enter key was hit, even when a map was active ??

Hi:
I am trying to create a customized thematic map from Pcensus (then I will

to mark changed records so they can be extracted and

Jacques,
When you hit Ctrl-m you generate the same keyboard code as when you hit the
enter key. Twas ever thus (at least for the past 25 years, and not just in
Windows and DOS).
There's some other ctrl keys that do dual purpose as well - ctrl-h for
backspace, ctrl-i for tab and ctrl-l for line
After many explorations and discussions (my thanks particularly to Eric

It all depends if the thousands separator is specified in the format$()

Hi Scott,
I have worked with MapInfo and Vertical Mapper for 7 years. I would suggest
making a copy of your multibeam dataset and using the grid calculator and
multiplying the elevation data by zero. This will give a secondary
elevation dataset which you can drap the 'tif' image onto with the
