hello, i have a
few hundred bus route layers that i'm trying to get a rough distance figure
on.
now most of these
routes travel along the same arterial trunks for some portion of their journey,
i'd like to combine any routes that do this so that portion is only counted once

Extracting coordinates of the end points of a line
This post made me really smile so
hopefully you all can at least see why. Mr
the function you want is
ObjectNode... but for some reason i can't find it in the MI
helpfile... i haven't used it for maybe the last 2 updates of MI so
maybe it's gone...??

Hi All1
Earlier in this thread I suggested that you use mif/mid files for MapInfo data
actually you think there'd be a semi-compiled file format available.
it'd be great to just be able to email someone a single file and have it
usable in MI directly. i don't do it so much nowadays, but others in my
dept do, and i remember every time i emailed them i'd have to give
instructions for

check the properties of your access forms, whether it is locked or read-only

are you able to do anything else in it such as navigate and zoom and layer
control and whatnot? is it only editing you cannot do?

just save it as a new werkspace and they'll all be listed in the WOR file

actually i don't think it's an MI issue, it sounds like you need the jet
DLL's reinstalled. sorry i can't recall the exact stuff right now it's been
a while, but get one of your resident nerds to make sure the latest patches
for Jet and stuff are applied to Office.

glad you like. our department has been using an access based public
transport information system for years now, i made it as a 'what if' kinda
thing and just kept adding to it as some people liked it, it also includes a
seamless integration of mapping tools using mapinfo, but the next stage is
yep no problem, there should be something in the code called like MIOBJ or
something. just create a function to set MIOBJ.Visible = False

hi Greg, all you are talking about is doable and quite easily once you get a
grip on it. access uses a subform not a picturebox.
here's a link to a message from a couple years ago, it includes a link to a
very basic example of integrated mapping and should get you going.
i put together the theory for an IsDonut() function sometime ago...

i do public transport route planning and came upon this quandary a few years
ago. in the end it was too much hard yakka to bother so i ended up just
going with a given maximum walk distance and multiplying that by about 1.4
to account for average turns and routes needed to get from a to b, i
so i'm sure this is one of the most basic functions but it currently escapes
me i have a table with like 700 lines (bus routes) and i want to create
a point table wherever those lines intersect so we can analyze those
locations.
is it easier to do it with all these lines appended into a
