This is because MapInfo 6.5 stores certain things in a different location to MapInfo 6.0. The new location (in Windows 2000) is C:\Documents and Settings\'username'\Application Data\MapInfo\MapInfo\Professional\650\CustSymb Put them there are they will appear in MapInfo. I don't know about

Hello again everyone: I received a couple of responses to my query directly. Thanks to those who sent them. . . it was a great help. Basically the answer was to open the workspace in a text editor and change the version of MapInfo from 650 to 550. Once I did that apparently everything worked
