I have a map that displays roads stored in a polyline format. I would
like to mark one-way streets with an arrow symbol drawn on top of the
road itself. The symbol can be as small as possible (for beginning I
would like to be able to superimpose it anywhere between the street
vector) symbol, with a negative GAP:

I'm trying to display some layers (ESRI Shapefile and MapInfo) in the
same map. The ESRI shapefiles work just fine, and I've used them for a
long time. The new MapInfo layer however has very different "Extent"
values for its coordinates and does not overlap with the original layers

I've just upgraded my testbed to mapserver 5.4 and converted my mapfile
to use AGG as output instead of GD. I was looking to "smooth-out" some
lines that don't look verry well in my map.
Unfortunatelly, the map doesn't show any difference (from the GD
rendered version) - so

For special reasons (dynamic data) I need to create some sort of
proxy/wrapper around mapserv (5.2) to permit the dynamic modification of
the mapfile based on the age of the specific mapfile.
Basically the user will request a mapfile which on most ocasions will be
generated on
e output to the user
print `/var/www/cgi-bin/mapserv`;

The only major problem I encountered was that mapserver couldn't open
the files referenced in the mapfile (fonts, template, shapefiles). I had
to specify the full paths in the map file to get it working.

Try escaping the forward slashes... Although they are not a special
character, usually regexes are called between forward slashes /REGEX/,
so it could mess things up.
Try:
SetEnv MS_MAPFILE_PATTERN='^\/var\/www\/mapfiles\/.*$'
Also, $ after .* is irrelevant... :)

Please use this space seperated list ONLY at the MAP section, when in
Layers, wms_srs needs to be a single EPSG-code that is native to the
particular layer

It's barbaric, I know, but it worked for me. :)
It will take a bit of rewrite to add fcgi support and mapscript, but in
