MD: sharp 702

Does anyone know what version of ATRAC Sharp 702 uses, and how it's sound quality (recording and playback) compare to later Sharp models and CD sound. Also what kind of bataries does it use, and does it have a coaxial digital input?

I've recently had two discs (one black Sony, another coloured TDK) which have failed. The TDK is slow reading, and when it does finally play back skips like a scratched CD and the Sony just says "Disc Error" when I insert it. The TDK was pretty old and had been knocked around a bit, so I guess
