Sony portables do have manually adjustable recording levels. But you must set the
level "before"
you start to record (in record/pause mode) and can not change it "on the fly" (unlike

my Sony MD component recorder has a couple 'sync'
features, such as one that records when it detects an
audio signal, and even clips out the null-sound times
(called smart space). I have yet to try this on the

Since they use Sync Recording, it should
think that hardware will work with sony md units, for example? or is it
a propiatary sharp thing?

Hi Ralph,
Re:

Yes, you are right - $70 for a cable is a lot. However I look at it differently.
Voquette provided me with a new way of using my MD. Since I have their
VMM software and NetLink adapter, I look at WEB Audio in a different way.

The connection is analog, and it does depend on the synchro-start mechanism.
Sony's upcoming MP3 > MD solution is better in my opinion. It's a
paralell/USB to optical connection -- with some sort of software -- that
will be out very early 2000 in the US. Sony originally said the price would

I can't tell if this does fits any Sharp MD. Will it be able to control my
702, since there's no rec button on the remote?
Since, according to the system requirements, the Voquette hardware requires
a sound card, I presume it is just a posh stereo analogue cable (?) Where
does the control line p

Hmm,
have to check this out.
However, is it a digital connection? Or is the hardware just a "special" cable
that connects to the analog out of your soundcard?
