Bingo! Page 18 shows the filter screen and the orientation. It was in
correctly with the raised part facing upwards toward the engine and I will
install it againn in that manner.

Gah! As soon as google maps came out I wanted to implement this
researched it all, got started with a google maps API key, and had a
scheme setup very similary to this, but then school started...

two previous posts that I have actually already gone through the diagnostics in
the MBZ climate control service manual up to the point where I need a $400
dollar test fixture to check the electrical compone

Sounds like when my fuel filter was clogging once and I was attempting to
climb a hill (at which point 45mph was the fastest I could get it going on
the highway), and it finally got to the point on the hill that the engine
was still running, but not enough to overcome the drag from the auto tranny.

Actually, it's a bit more complicated than that
The diesel/gasoline yield of a barrel of crude oil is somewhat
dependent upon the source (and hence the composition) -- Arabian
"sweet" crude yields much more gasoline than diesel since it has more
light volatiles in it, than, say, Illinois B
