Many moons ago when I worked at an AC shop, all the compressor cores
that we got to rebuild to put on MBs came off of Cadillacs at the
boneyard. We'd grab every 2 pulley compressor they had. I would venture
to guess that it would fit.

Yes, when the mast is nearly down it takes on a labored sound, and the
movement becomes jerkey. Finally it stops, usually with about 2 - 4
inches of the mast exposed.

I bought one today for that kind of price that runs and drives great.
Even has the ortho seats.

Ed, I can only speak to the W126.
All long body options (excluding the 560) included frt/rear heated
seats, reclining rear seat and hydraulic rear suspension. All of these
items were standard on the 560SEL only. I'm sure there is more but
that's the big stuff.
OTOH, it is difficult to find a

Thanks John. I have some old brochures for the W140, but nothing for the
W126. Thanks again, yes it helps.
I also dug up an old AMG catalog before they were part of Benz. Remember
the Hammer days? :-) There was a lady about 10 minutes from me. She had a
W124 wagon with the full Hammer
I am looked on the list archives and they showed up there as well.

OK guys...went over to my Indy's place and checked out the 88 420SEL. It is
absolutely immaculate. Drives like a dream, burgundy paint is shiny, new
palomino leather on the front seats (seat covers from the factory replaced
the old ones), no leaks visible on the engine, and everything works like

What he said. I'd not do something like that with a car or any other major
purchase. $150 was the most I have tried and that was for something that I
would have been willing to pay that much for, and done at a time when I knew
there was not time for more than two or at the most three other bids,
I have seen that 240D and am lusting after it. Was on CL for a month
and he parks it around town with the sign. It is in very good
condition, but I have not given it a test drive to truly know what
may need work. Did crawl under and it is nice.

It's possible there's a broken-off piece of nylon leader in there
taking up space. Take it apart and look!

Upon thinking about it, it seems that the only benefit of a sniping

end of the auction, no? But if the person was willing to be at the ready at
