The problem is that the seal is soft sheet metal, doesn't take much to bend it up. I've wrecked a few in my time! They are available at McParts, usually -- after all, they have the bearings. Not always, though, as the spindle size isn't determined by the bearing seat size. Peter __

Hi Everyone Our 1982 300 CDT has become very hard to start. We took it into a mechanic who replaced the relay and glo plugs and that has not done a thing for improving the starting. We have to crank the engine over for a good 20 seconds to get it to go. Once it is warm it runs like a charm.

I do not think of the hill to the West of Portland as moderate! I just checked, and it is a 7.5% grade, a bit more than moderate, I'd say! No wonder it takes the grunt of a Cummins to muster enough speed to maintain the speed limit while towing anything! All of the W123 300 NA Diesels i've own
