the crankshaft sprocket which probably means I'll have to do the whole thing

My 1982 300TD and i met a deer, essentially in downtown Washington,
Georgia. It was about dusk. It took out the headlight doors
(surrounds), the grill, bowed the a/c condensor and pressed the
radiator into the fan. And knocked the belt off the p. steering too.

That Volvo TD with a five speed was a HOT car -- 0-60 in 9 seconds or
something, quite fast for a 2.4L diesel. Probably got 33 mpg or

You can get a shaft seal from ACSource or Polarbear INC (I have one
sitting here waiting to go in my "new" compressor tomorrow). It
comes with new bolt seals, you take fhe front cover off after
removing the clutch, push the old one out, new on in, reassemble. If

one, but I have owned
a lot of turbo diesel manual cars, including my 1984 Volvo 760 which
is about the same size
car, engine, and turbo. Because the diesel has no throttle body, the
turbo remains fully spooled

MB never put a 5 speed behind a turbo diesel because it reduces the
driveability. Yea it sounds like a good idea but everyone I have talked
to that have done it was not happy with the results. After every shift,
you got to wait for the turbo to spool back up again. Very sluggish.

yea, supposedly, but I have run regular in it and I cant tell any
difference. Although I do usually run premium. Even at that, its still
about the same or cheaper to drive it than, say, a SDL

'Zackly what I thought. I vaguely remember that I had the tumblers out of a
123 cylinder years ago and that they came out very easily. 'Had no doubt
that you'd be able to "make up" a good assembly. BTW, remind me, are the
tumblers pins or wafers?

My timing chain experience! I was replacing the timing chain on my
'80 300SD at a Saturday Tech Session at a dealership many years
ago... I dropped a link (took off one of the visegrips early). A
Tech then came to my rescue. He removed the vacuum pump and used a
gallon plastic
checked my Summit catalog and they offer several wraps with all made by
"Thermo Tec" They offer a clamp on and adhesive - which kink did you use?
What brand? How long did it take?
I'm considering it for several of my cars as IMO heat under the hood causes
a lot of damage to rubber components,

along those same lines, I heard yesterday Ralph Nader is coming to town to

Turns out the lock tumblers basically fall out of the cylinder when everything
isn't all jammed up. So I cut my old driver's side cylinder apart (finished
cutting anyway, I'd started last week. Cleaned each tumbler good with a wire
wheel and 400 gr
