OK the trailer guy sent me a copy of the trailer title, which says
"Capacity (if commercial) 7000lb" and says that the trailer is 100% a
7000lb trailer. The mystery still remains of why it is stamped "Do
not exceed 5000lb Gross Weight" on the frame (which is not the hitch).

Not really. You need to pump fluid in the _bottom_ of the
clutch system. And where does the fluid come out? Into the
_bottom_ of the brake reservoir. And if it's already pretty

Kelly Blue Book lists it at $3300 for EX from private person -- so they're
asking list, as usual for a dealer. Retail value in EX is $4600.

Something that would hold half a cup to a cup, held a foot above the
brake master, connected to the (open) slave bleeder no pressure
needed. gravity will do it. A valve or pinch clamp on the hose is
nice, but not necessary.
I am thinking of the ol "merican type fuel filter as a canister.

leaks I couldn't find anything on the clutch system.

We did it a year ago in my 1984 240D - it might be the same system as the '78?

to be made in installing the master - an eccentric bolt allows

Travel trailers are regularly made into utility trailers around here, no big
deal.
Mobile home axles are considered single use throwaway items. That said some
guys use them for years and don't die...

What do you think a safe load might be? Is it reasonable to base it upon
the original plate on the trailer? It all looks reasonably heavy duty to
me. I think the original gross weight was about 5,000#. It has the white

As a counterpoint I don't use any additives and have never had any issues with
small engines stored over the winter, with no special preparation. I don't buy
ethanol-cut gasoline which may have something to do with it.

tightened the bushing bolts. I did think about this as well. Maybe I
