You dont take anything apart. at the bare minimum, wipe the gear ands shaft clean with acetone or similar solvent. then put a drop of epoxy in with a toothpick so it makes contact with the side of the gear and covers the shaft. All you are trying to do is increase the resistance to slippage

yes, that is the common failure mode. What I do is remove the shaft, put some super glue on the spot where that gear is supposed to ride and let it dry. After it drives I reinstall the shaft and it works. The dried glue gives it something to grab ahold of. Others file(rough up) the shaft in

There were at least a couple of articles about this at mbz.org. Never done it myself, but iirc a piece or coathanger wire or whatever you can find of the approximate right diameter to hold things in place is correct. Knurl the gear end of the shaft w/ pliers or whatever, jbweld, superglue, flavor

Roughen the shaft and the side of the gear the best you can. Put a drop of epoxy or jb weld there and let it cure. Reassemble. Had the same problem 30+ years ago on my 62 110 diesel. Pretty common At 09:21 PM 7/18/2005, you wrote: My dad's 300D odometer is not working all the time. It catc

My dad's 300D odometer is not working all the time. It catches, slows down, and sometimes stops for periods of time. I pulled it out tonight and looked at it, ran it with a drill. I noticed that the grey gear on the end of the main odometer numbers likes to slip on the shaft. I could ge
