Dan,
The guys are right... its either the hoses or the caliper causing the
problem. But, given the age of your car, you need new brake hoses no
matter what. Replace all four while you're doing this job. You'll be
very impressed with the improved pedal feel, and you'll reduce the
chances of

Do calipers really need to be
replaced in pairs? What if the other works fine? I change in pairs

With a high
mileage car, I get the best warm fuzzy feeling

they were ~$80 each and they had them the next day.

I think so, I've had a single replaced and had the car
My 82 300SD has a sticking rear caliper. One brake puck worn more than
the others, and after parking it for two weeks, the LR wheel wouldn't
turn until I gave it considerable throttle. Tire eventually slid
across driveway floor until it broke free.
What's the fix? New caliper? Or are they
Its either a bad brake hose or a bad caliper. Good used calipers are
cheap and will do the trick. I happen to have plenty laying around.

It's a fairly easy rebuild, replacements are not expensive, but do
replace all the hoses -- it's now time, and you don't want one to
either leak or develop a one-way valve.
