Both my stick '70 220D/8 and stick '80 240D had oil coolers.

180 degrees F = 82 degrees C

Procedure 18-120 for the 615 series engine says oil thermostat begins to
open at 95 +/- 4 C, fully open at 110 +/- 4C.
