Catch strap or door check is currently out of the car having just last
week replaced the door seal.

Every winter (I, of course, use that term loosly by back east
brothers) my drivers door becomes difficult to close. I almost have to
slam it shut when temps get below 50 or so.
Try a shot of spray lube in the latch mechanism. Or it could just
be out of adjustment.

difficult just having replaced the door seal. When it's warm out,
I reckon I'll change it out if the the squirt of lube doesn't do the trick.

Most likely the striker plate is out of adjustment (or the door has
sagged a bit on the hinges). I would recommend having someone with
the correct tool adjust the striker, it can be a real PITA without it.
Lubricate the latch assembly as well, I think white lithium grease is
the correct
