That plant was messed up long before Duke broke it. That was just the final
straw. I’ve commented about my experiences there numerous times. It was bad
enough that we convinced the in-laws to move out of Crystal River years ago due
to the poor maintenance record of the plant operators.

That is correct. I had the powerco come and run a new line to the house
for 300A service. They came off the transformer on the pole with new
line, ran it to a junction box, then ran new underground line to my
meter box (which a powerco guy I know had given me off his truck a
coupla years prio
If it's attached to your building, it's yours. The Tri-plex from the transformer to the edge of your building is theirs. If a truck hits the overhead Tri-plex where it crosses the road, and the Tri-plex yanks the conduit off your house, it's your problem. Mitch.

I would imagine that a generator running on natural gas would be less
expensive than diesel fuel, but sourcing the natural gas could be an issue
all by itself.
