His rates actually aren't too bad.
Living in the large metropolitan area of Shitcago, indie rates can be over $100
an hour, AND, they really don't know older Mercedes.

Pierre is welcome to do the work. He DOES expect to be paid. I won't
be paying him. Pierre can come and get the car, and have at it.

If Larry gave me his 300D 2.5, I'd fix that one.

Well, it sounds like you had better practise your welding if you intend
to keep driving it. It need not be pretty but you need to make it safe
if you intend to keep riding around in it.
Or else, you need to find a better body and start swapping the drive train.

Check this out, he fixed it for $500 with some welding. Bought the car
from Co-part for like $32k, got it fixed, would be a $70k car, very few
miles. Insco totaled it because of the damage (which might be due to a
design defect).

The frame was broken when mao drove it out in 2012. It is not the worst
rusty MB i have bought, that prize goes to the 76 300D with flapping
fenders. Kleb said it was the worst rusted 126 he has ever seen. It
has many places rusted through 2 layers. It was beat up when I got
it. It was

I'm thinking drain the fluid, brush the joint between the head and
block clean where I see it bleedin, slather on the JBweld, wait a day or
3, refill radiator, and give it a try.
The only vergasser I would consider is an e320 or similar. I know a
300E M103 will have a head gasket leak soon,

:( Are you thinking "pull the head, grind out the leak,
I posted that $700 E the other day that probably just needed a conductor plate
or connector or something. 722.6 is $350 at the junkyard here so worse is to do
a transplant and get a runner. Or buy that decent looking rear-ended S320 and
tape up the trunk and just drive it.
