I started working on replacing the brake hoses on my W116. The fittings
where the hard line meets the hose don't look too bad but they are not
turning. I am using a flare nut wrench. I have PB Blaster on them now.
I may mix up some more ATF/acetone.

Just remember, rubber and brake fluid (an alcohol) will burn... Pretty
intensely.

Let us know how it works. I may be facing the same dilemma soon.

Time is on my side. Still waiting delivery of vacuum pump rebuild kit
before I have any brake boost anyway.

If you can give the PB Blaster overnight, it will probably do the job. Heat and
hydraulics don't mix to well, try to get all the fluid out and be very careful
to not get burned.

Well the time and penetrant worked. I got the fitting to turn, though
at one point I could feel the wrench starting to round off the corners.
I stopped, repositioned to get a bite on a couple of new corners, and it
finally turned. I did not end up using any heat.
One thing to keep in mind, even
The right side of the car tends to take more abuse all around from pot holes
and the like.
