There is a kid on various fakebook groups who supposedly has some sort
of business making hood stacks for morons who want to cut a hole in
their hood. I think he also sells used parts. Lems or something like
that. I noticed a post on some group about parting out a 240D. Pics

Interesting ... How many timing chains have been replaced? Have you
measured the chain stretch?
Marshall said that the synthetic drastically reduced the rate of chain wear
and that it was measurable. You might be able to confirm or debunk that.

If memory serves me correctly, the term is “miscible”, and R134a is not with
mineral based oils.

Well, I hate to even chime in here, but... I know some of you are purist, but
my 1983 300D with over 360,000 miles and still the same compressor from 20
years ago, has run R12, Freeze12, DuraCool, R134a, and something else. The oil
has been mixed. It will still cool if topped off and stop
Correct.

Basically if the R12 has all leaked out, all you need to do is put R134
fittings on it and charge it. Nothing else is required.

Do I understand that they were suggesting dumping R-134a in on top of R-12 in
the same system?

Well they were talking about recharging a R12 system. A “25 year mechanic “
says just buy the fill adapter and dump in 134. I say that won’t work then

New cars are also for the most part very reliable.
If not abused, most any "mass market" car from Ford, Chevy, Japan, Korea
will go well over 100K miles with only minor if any issues.

Have they finished printing the $1200 checks yet?
The federal stimulus has bought a lot of $5000 and under used cars in

It’s interesting, as I was talking to one of my neighbors last night. He was
looking for a truck a month or so ago, and he said that he gave up because
there was nothing whatsoever in the private market anywhere he looked. He was
convinced it was due to all the current issues with COVID/shelter
Right here. Once my 300TD wagon is back from the shop I will be posting it
on FB.

Sounds like when I list something in the local Marketplace and it flags the ad
for something “bad” in one of the two groups I post in. I’ve yet to figure what
it is that keeps it from one group and not the other. You appeal or ask for a
review it it never seems to happen.
Good luck.
