I wouldn't worry about it. It is a lot easier to catch up double-checks
than it is to get ahead doing first times.

I did a Windows Update.
Checking Task Manager shows Prime95 getting 99% CPU, but a EXPLORER.EXE
process keeps jumping up to get 1% which is activity I don't remember from
before.

I have a Dell Inspiron 8000 with a ATI Mobility M4 which I'm pretty sure is
PCI.

Well, I hope you figure it out because the same has happened to me. Have
you done any Windows
point you can Prime95 service
install again.
I don't know, it is hard to tell. I don't think your problems happen when
doing it by hand, so something must be wrong with the image?

Me too. I understand that George's top producer page does this, while the
PrimeNet stat page does not. PrimeNet really needs this capability.

a that would allow me to compare factoring
contributions as well?

ss of credit. Is this up-to-date stat policy? Does
this apply only to LL stats or is it possible to lose credit for factoring if
later factoring proves more successful? How many such scenarios are
there?
Thanks,

How did you get -1?
Lucas-Lehmer Test: For p odd, the Mersenne number 2p-1 is prime if and only
if 2p-1 divides S(p-1) where S(n+1) = S(n)2-2, and S(1) = 4.
You missed the premise "for p odd".
And even so, S(p-1)/(2p-1) with p = 2; S(1)/3 = 4/3.

to be happy with 360 days let alone something along the line of 1168!

I honestly thought that the long term goal (maybe not by this panel but for
others) was to factor all these numbers and that we were setting/recording a
lower boundary for that effort.

Daran,
I waited a few days for someone more able than myself to reply. They
must all be busy, so I'll give a response as best I can...
I read somewhere that factoring has a success rate of 20%.
Version 19 fixed a bug that was underestimating the time necessary, in

Daran,
Again I'm not the most qualified person to reply but...
The name of the game is validate - by duplication. You cannot make a
case without duplicating the result. This is to safeguard against the many
