If you are mirroring the web site the index.html file will happen by
default, unless you have it coded in your httpd.conf to use a different
index file.
The ftp server mirror, you need to tell it to use Options Indexes which will

How about updating the How to Become a mirror page with the auto-email
script so people don't have to send an email they just fill in a form and
tick a few boxes. I sent this script to ASK a while ago.
Also make the httpd server link non server specific so instead of reffering
to httpd.apache.org
This was stopping the rsync prematurely. The bugs directory is chmod'd to
020, oddly enough. I removed it, ran rsync again, and the directory was
recreated, with the same mode. I had to run rsync with the --exclude bugs
argument in order for it to finish correctly.

How about we remove the old directories from the server as i'm sure people
do not want to be downloading old versions of apache..

I also third this problem as I have just had a look at
http://www.apache.org/dyn/closer.cgi and the only mirror that appears is the
one from mexico...
