Larry,
I went through a similar situation not long ago. To make a long
story short, I tested for fuel at the inlet to the fuel
distributor as you did, with the same result - fuel sprayed seemingly
under pressure. However, in the end, the main
fuel pump was bad. I pulled it and ran it on th
minutes for
it to "skin over", then apply. Else, you just squish the rtv out of the
joint and create a moot point.

There are two o-rings on the 16v Dizzy.. On on the outside shaft, one on
the inside.. The inside one is tough to replace, and VW doesn't stock the
part anymore, but a suitable replacement can be found quite easily. NAPA
can find a comparable o-ri
It wont.. Not until the "flapper" is raised, will fuel make it's way to the
fuel injector lines. You only need 3 things: spark, fuel and air.
Assuming the air (compression) is there, do you have spark at the plugs? If
no, find out why. If yes, is the ignition timing correct? If yes, then you
Hey 16Vers,
I happen to just walk in from replacing my distributor. My 16V has
been out of commission for a while and won't start and I have been
trying different things in my spare time. So far I have replaced the
ignition coil (with a used one) and the distributor (with a new one). I
now sus
