Recently I had a foreign buyer contact me while an auction was running about a
lobby card asking if I would ship it in a tube.
I told them that I would ship the item flat, gave them a very brief history of
lobby cards, and sent them a link to learnaboutmovieposters.com so that they
could learn
Hi Ron,
I think it's best to meet their demands since they asked for it and you did
your best to inform them and talk them out of it.
Some people just don't understand no matter how many times you try to explain.
Unfortunately you can't please them all.
I once bought a lobby card set from
My only suggestion is to get the largest (radius) tube possible so it's not
necessary to roll it very tightly. Also perhaps get some sheets of 11x17
paper and sandwich it between them?

Dear Movieposter Friends,
We opened our store and online gallery on November 5th 1998, therefore we
celebrate our 10th birthday! To celebrate this event, we decided to say thank
you to our customers with a special discount:
10% for poster orders up to CHF 100.--
20% for poster orders from CHF
It is not only newbies who have this problem!
I purchased a $1,600 linen six-sheet and a $2,000 set of 8 lobby cards from
Sotheby's in 1992, and they charged me their usual rip-off shipping (in this
case around $200). That didn't bother me nearly as much as when I received a

I disagree with other dealers who say ship it rolled. I think the person just
doesn't understand what kind of paper a lobby card is printed on. The desired
end result is getting them the item in the same condition as you sold it. You
take a greater chance of damaging the card by rolling it even

Hey, Mopo:
I have a dozen lobbies ending today and tonight on eBay, all starting at $9.99!
Titles: The Grapes of Wrath, Midnight Cowboy, The World of Abbott Costello,
State of the Union, The Killers, Island of Doomed Men!
I also have over 40 other posters and lobbies, all Buy-It-Now for
Ship it the correct way. You are the experienced pro.
If done correctly it will be fine.
otherwise make them email you a statement
that you are not responsible if shipped rolled.
As a business owner you can do everything correctly
and still not please everyone. It's hard to accept but true.
You guys are right. I was not thinking clear this morning because my little
girl (who is teething) kept me up all night.
When I started selling I learned the hard way that it is always best to ship
products the best way possible.
I had a customer that wanted the cheapest shipping rate possible
Hello MOPO,
How quickly could this be put together? I need it ASAP. Thanks!
