Needless to say that the price is completely ridiculous, but since
eBay allows you to list a few items for free every month, it may have
cost him nothing,
and if the idea was to draw attention to his auctions, it apparently
worked: He's now discussed on Mopo, for whatever that's worth... ;-)
hello mopo'ers,
i was trying to help a friend out who was looking at these framed posters
(half sheets are 2, and the other appears to be a one sheet but have no
size reference).
i told my friend that the red flag on the 2 of them (RIDE RYDER RIDE and
SANDFLOW) is that they have been framed and
You got it, Helmut. That's just what I was going to say, but it seemed too
obvious. Guess his strategy worked: the listing has been posted on Mopo
(including on Mopo's website), thus more people will look at it, then look at
his other listings, then potentially make a purchase of something else
Hey Kerry and all,
I know what you are saying about the mat covering the copyright info.
However, I do have many customers, even though I suggest otherwise, who mat

Kerry,
The following is total, complete idle speculation, but...
I'm guessing that the "Virginia City" & "Red Ryder Ride" pieces are
original, because...who would want to bother MAKING a repro of either
title? They're not terribly attractive graphics. The "Sandflow" poster
is certainly suspect,
It's hard to tell from this photo. I do know that if something is matted
you absolutely have to find out how it is matted. The matt could be
covering the fact that the borders were trimmed away. Also, a lot of
older posters were mounted on cardboard which renders the posters
virtually worthless. No

There IS a repro of VIRGINIA CITY out there, and it looks very much
like the one at auction.

greg,
all one has to do is look at a site like allposters.com and see MANY smaller
titles that have been reproduced. i am not suggesting a forgery like the
Universal fakes, simply a poster print bought at some other retailer and
framed.

thanks for the input, sue.
these arent ebay items but being sold thru a private seller. the framing
looks low quality and like newer wood, as do the mats.

Hi MOPO Folks,
I'm a bit out of touch with the poster world in

OK, so who on this list bought something from this seller? A seller who

right up. Who bought something from this carny poster seller?
Personally, I don't find sellers that put insanely high prices on posters

Kerry,
Only one thing to do here -- make the seller take the posters out of the
frame and send a picture of a close-up of the bottom margin to see what
it says. Besides, the seller is going to have to take them out of the
frames anyway -- you definitely would *not* want them shipping in the

hi JR,
that was my first suggestion to my friend last night, when i first viewed
the photos... have them removed from the frames so the entire piece can be
seen. if the seller refuses, he is potentially hiding something. get pics of
the "naked" pieces and get close up shots of the printer's info.

Helmut is correct about teh VIRGINIA CITY. the title used to be a solid second

The Trade Show seems to indicate a magazine trade ad and not a poster, or a
trade ad blown up to poster size.
